Mesquite is a Sonoran Desert Species, at least that’s where I started to find it. It grows everywhere apparently as long as it has a lot of water and a lot of sun. It’s a very hard wood. It has a lot of dark color. People used to use it a lot for rifle gun stocks like Black Walnut. There’s a very interesting growth to the Mesquite; it grows really wild. Very seldom can you get a straight mesquite tree. It’s very gnarly, and it grows very erratically.
